Pom Klementieff
Pom Klementieff is a French actress was
born on May 3, 1986. She was trained at the Cours Florent drama school in Paris
and has been featured in such films as Loup (2009), Sleepless Night (2011) and
Hacker's Game (2015). She portrays the role of Mantis, in the Marvel Cinematic
Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017). Avengers: Infinity War
(2018). Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was the child of an Korean
mother, as well as an American-Russian father. Her father was a consul of Quebec
City, Canada. Eugene Klementieff, a painter was her grandpa. Because it sounded
similar to the Korean words for "spring" or "tiger" her
parents gave their daughter the name Pom. Klementieff was a resident of Canada
before her family moved extensively because of her father's work. They lived in
Japan as well as the Ivory Coast, before settling in France. Klementieff lost
her father to cancer at age five. Her mother was also diagnosed with
schizophrenia. Klementieff was raised in France by her aunt and paternal uncle.
Her uncle, whom she herself described as "like [her] first father,"
died on Klementieff’s 18th birthday. Her older brother was killed seven years
later. This time, it was her birthday, which was on the 25th. Following the
death of her uncle, Klementieff attended law school briefly to please her aunt.
But she didn't consider the profession appealing. In France she was employed as
a waitress and salesperson. She began acting at the age of 19 at the Cours
Florent drama school in Paris. After completing her education she was selected
for an acting competition that granted her two years of free tuition alongside
some of the top teachers at the school. Klementieff was the stepdaughter of
Catherine Deneuve in Apres lui (2006) the film that was her first ever
professional acting role. The filming took place over three days to capture her
scenes. In one scene, Klementieff was supposed to push a person down the stairs
but fell down the steps herself, and director Gael Morel used that scene in the
film. Loup (2009), which is a French film that focuses on the Siberian reindeer
herders, was her debut significant role. The actress filmed for hours in an
isolated camp, far from the nearest village. The temperature dropped to below
zero during filming.
